Reaction of N-methylpiperidine with methyl bromide to produce N-methyl-2-bromomethylpiperidine. This product is then reacted with aniline under basic conditions to form a phosphonium salt.

-no irritant to skin, eyes and respiratory tract, should be washed with plenty of water immediately after contact. Avoid inhaling dusts and vapors of the compound and wear appropriate protective equipment.
